There are three different types of finishes when it comes to parquetry flooring. Unless you choose the timeless look of Natural Oil, it is important to know that oiled floors offer less protection against sunlight. Raw and unfinished parquetry flooring can also be supplied in natural and solid forms, especially for styles such as Herringbone and Chevron. These give a natural and authentic finish.
Natural Oil Finish
The Natural Oil Finish is the most traditional option for parquetry flooring. If you already use our Sand & Polish service and want a different finish, this option will give your flooring a warm and authentic look. Over time, natural light will change the colour of the floorboards, giving them a unique character. The oil needs to be reapplied more often than lacquer. However, the process is simple and easy to do. This finish wears more quickly than lacquered flooring, but it is easier to refresh.
Matt Lacquer Finish
Matt Lacquered flooring offers an elegant look and a softer sheen compared to glossy finishes. They provide a natural appearance while delivering higher scratch resistance. Moreover, this finish is less affected by sunlight compared to oiled floors. Matt lacquer is also one of the most common and popular finishes for parquetry. It offers durability and reduces the need for frequent maintenance.

Raw / Unfinished
If you want a completely natural and custom look, Raw or unfinished parquetry is a great choice. It allows you to choose your own stain or finish after installation. This option gives you full control over the colour and style, while also allowing for a unique colour-changing effect over time. Therefore, it is perfect for homeowners who want to create a personalised design for their flooring.
