Timber Flooring Sand: Polishing and Sanding Process
The Timber Flooring Sand process is essential for maintaining the beauty and durability of timber floors. It sands the floor to create a smooth surface before applying sealants and finishes. Proper sanding removes old finishes, scratches, and uneven spots. This prepares the timber for polishing.
First, seal the edges and corners of the floor. Stir the sealant well. Then use a paintbrush to apply it carefully around the edges. This step is called “cutting in.” Cut in about 100mm from the edge. This helps speed up polishing and prevents sealant from getting on walls or skirting boards.
Next, use a lambswool applicator to apply sealant to the main floor area. Start from a far corner and work toward the doorway. Let each coat dry completely before adding the next. Light sanding between coats helps smooth the timber surface.
Drum sanders cannot reach close to edges and skirting boards. Use an edging sander in these areas instead. Edging sanders use finer grit sandpaper. They create a smoother finish in visible spots.
Regular Timber Flooring Sand and polishing refresh your floors. They also extend the floor’s life. This keeps your timber floors looking perfect for years.
