About hybrid flooring

Hybrid flooring is a plank with a waterproof rigid core (SPC or WPC), a printed timber-look layer and a clear wear layer on top. It suits Melbourne homes well: spills, mopping and everyday family life do not damage the core, so it can go in living areas, kitchens and bedrooms. The ranges come in timber-look colours from light oak and grey to blackbutt and spotted gum, so there is a look for most styles.

The 47 ranges on this page are 2.5mm to 14mm thick, and the most common wear layer is 0.5mm. A thicker plank usually feels more solid underfoot, and a thicker wear layer gives more protection from scuffs and scratches. Check the figures on each range page before you choose, because they vary from range to range.

Hybrid planks are commonly installed as a floating floor with a click-lock system, which keeps installation quick and clean. A flat, well-prepared subfloor gives the best result.

Frequently asked questions

Is hybrid flooring suitable for Melbourne's climate?
Yes, hybrid flooring is ideal for Melbourne's variable climate. Its rigid core is waterproof and handles temperature fluctuations without expanding or contracting, making it perfect for homes across all Melbourne suburbs.
Can I see hybrid flooring samples before buying?
Absolutely. Visit our Thomastown showroom to view our full range of hybrid flooring samples. Our team can help you compare colours, textures, and thicknesses in person.
Can hybrid flooring be installed over existing tiles?
Yes, hybrid flooring can be installed directly over most existing hard floors including tiles, concrete, and timber. This makes it a popular renovation choice for Melbourne homeowners looking to update without the cost of removing old flooring.
How long does hybrid flooring last?
Quality hybrid flooring typically lasts 20 to 25 years with proper care. The wear layer protects against scratches and scuffs from everyday household traffic, pets, and furniture.
Is hybrid flooring suitable for bathrooms and kitchens?
Yes, hybrid flooring is 100% waterproof and can be installed in bathrooms, kitchens, and laundries. This is one of the key reasons Melbourne homeowners choose hybrid over laminate or timber for wet areas.
